We welcome our international website guests. We
thank you for your interest in our quilt guild and are very happy that you
visit our website. As you may have already realised, its content is in German only.
We hope that you will find the information that you are looking for. If not,
do not hesitate to write us an
EMAIL. We speak and write
in English. We even have two native English speaking members!
Our guild
'Quiltgruppe Mönchaltorf' is an association with 16 members
(including one native English speaker), founded in
1988. We meet once a month in a local school. We like to talk about our
hobby, learn new techniques, look at own works or those of others ('show and
tell' or on photos, digital shows), organise exhibitions or participate at
various quilting events.
Our last exhibition took
place in 2022 at Uster.
Here you can see a YouTube Video from this event.
We are in contact with our sister quilters
of the "Willows Quilting Group" in Melton, Australia:
So far we exchanged
six quilt challenges with this group. Themes:
"Floriade", "Trees", "Small Creatures",
"Weather", "Under the sea"
and "My Home is my Castle". All A4-sized quilts
were shown in Australia and in Switzerland. The challenge "Under the sea" was shown in our visitorless "corona-exhibition"
at Loogarten (see YouTube video).
You can see all of the
challenge quilts here. The latest challenge titled "My Home is my
Castle" was shown at our recent exhibition in June 2022 at Zeughaus Uster.
Unfortunatlely, no quilts from Melton have reached us in time.
You can see our 14 quilts
here.
In 2011 Erika met Leyette, a
quilter from New Zealand. Together with the "Fencible Quilters of Howick",
NZ and the "Nefti Quilters" from Neftenbach CH a total of 29 challenge quilts
were produced. This challenge was exhibited in New Zealand and at our
jubilee show in Mönchaltorf (2013) as well as at a Nefti Quilters show in
Neftenbach, before the Kiwi quilts found their way home in 2014. To show our friends in AUS and NZ what the exhibition
looked like we composed a YouTube video with pictures from the quilts as
well as some scenes from our hometown, Mönchaltorf. Have a look (13 min.)
Mönchaltorf
Mönchaltorf is a
village with about 4'000 inhabitants, embedded in the 'Zürcher Oberland'
